OOK/FSK Modulation Using PE42420 RF Switch

I recently bought a few Peregrine Semiconductor‘s PE42420 RF Switch evaluation boards on eBay. The PE42420 is an absorptive SPDT RF switch that operates between 100 MHz and 6 GHz. Besides the obvious use as a single pole double throw RF switch, we will take a look at using it as an RF modulator due to its fast switching time (~300 ns) in this post. Teardown of an HP 8671A Microwave Frequency Synthesizer

I recently bought an HP 8671A microwave frequency synthesizer on eBay. This synthesizer can generate signals from 2GHz to 6.2GHz with an unleveled output of more than 8dBm. It is a nice complement to my HP 8642B signal generator and Wavetek 907 signal generator. Using these generators, I can now generate signals of pretty much any frequencies under the 12GHz range. Wavetek 395 Timebase Upgrade

I got a Wavetek 395 arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) last year. Unlike my other equipment (such as HP 8566B, HP 5350B, HP 8642B and Racal Dana 1992) which all came with high stability ovenized crystal oscillators, the Wavetek 395 only comes with a 100ppm crystal. While the stock timebase is perfectly fine for all but the most serious measurements, I decided to upgrade it to an oven controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) as I happen to have a Vectron CO-717B58N lying around. Wavetek 395 Arbitrary Waveform Generator Teardown

I picked up a Wavetek 395 arbitrary waveform generator on eBay a few weeks ago. Wavetek 395 is a single channel, 12-bit resolution DDS AWG with a maximum clock frequency of 100 MHz. While the operation manual is readily available, I could not find the service manual anywhere. So I was curious to see the construction inside.
